NCAA Rules for Colleges and Universities: Complying with the Requirements

01-30-2025 1:00 PM EST.

In July 2021, the NCAA allowed college student-athletes to earn compensation for activities involving their name, image, and likeness (NIL). In this new era, some NCAA rules have been revised to address the ability of student-athletes to promote their NIL. Many other NCAA rules, however, affect potential and current student-athletes, including rules related to recruiting, academic eligibility, transfer requirements, and conduct considerations. In order to ensure that the institution and its students do not violate NCAA regulations, those involved in NCAA compliance need to be aware of all these rules. The education law expert Rick Verstegen will walk you through these NCAA rules on your campus and provide guidance on how your institution can remain in compliance.
